Where Are You Going?

Where are you going, my child? On what horizon have you set your eyes? What hopes, what dreams do you see there? What drives you so far?

Light from a distant place draws you, creating a yearning in your soul for something you don’t have. A longing, looking to fill emptiness and a sense of loss that you carry with you. Know, my precious one, it is something you carry with you. Even if you travel far, that longing and sense of loss will travel with you. It is in you.

What you see as golden promise on the horizon can never be reached. You move toward it, it moves further. You can chase it around the globe and never touch it. It leaves you only with unfulfilled dreams and longing.

Look to the horizon and appreciate it for what it is – the promise of another day. The sun sets into the night, giving you rest from today, and it rises in the morning, signaling a new opportunity. This is its message of hope. Embrace it. Appreciate it.

So what shall you do? Where shall you go? Sit and be still. Calm your heart. Wipe your eyes, and trust me. You have tried to trust. You have set an intention to be still. I know. But then a stone gets hurled through a window, shattering the glass and shattering your peace. Once again, you gaze into the distance looking for where to run.

I know. You have tried. Try no more. Just sit now, and know that I am with you, loving you, holding you – no matter what happens around us, I am happy to sit with you and love you. There is nothing you must do except sit and let me love you, knowing you are perfect in every way. You are complete.

Sit in stillness. Watch the sun set on the horizon, and let the longing in your soul be filled with the warmth you have here with me. As the sun’s glow disappears in the distance, feel it come into you with melting warmth and reassurance.

Run no more. Let what you seek travel to you.
