A Wish for the New Year

Some days I feel just a little lost. Some days I find myself questioning what is my purpose here on this earth. This week I was touched by the daily meditation from Fr. Richard Rohr from the Center for Action and Contemplation. He wrote:

“. . . we spend our whole life trying to believe: that this ordinary earthly sojourn means something.

Sometimes we wake up in the morning wondering, what does it all mean? What’s it all for? What was I put here for? Where is it all heading?

I believe it’s all a school. And it’s all a school of love. And everything is a lesson—everything.”

And what a beautiful school it is! With oh so many lessons!

When I went on my walk across Spain in 2019 I was looking for what to do with my next 30 years. What I learned is I already knew what to do. I just needed the courage to do it. I needed the courage to let me, my purpose, my dream unfold from within and spill over into the world. That’s what I’ve been doing in 2021. From that, I’m learning that we are all really on the same journey. Different paths, different experiences, but ultimately the same journey.

I wish you a very happy New Year. May the blessing that you are to this world unfold and become real to you! May it spill over into the world. May we all learn and grow together in this school of love.

  1. So beautifully written… I also find myself wondering what my purpose is in life. I am praying that God shows me what it looks like this coming year. Everyone is settled in their lives and I seem to be at a standstill. <3<3

    • Hey Deanna, I dare say 2022 will be an exciting year for you then as you become more aware of your purpose. It’s there. It’s inside you. I pray with you that it become more apparent to you this year.
