A Cold Wind Blows

A cold wind blows from the north, across the plains and through the hearts of many who have fallen from hope. They have turned to despair. They are overtaken by sadness. They sit in fear. The cold chills their bones and the wind shakes their foundation.

Come away from them, my beloved. Indeed, you have turned from this. As the cold chill was settling in, you kindled a fire and invited me to sit with you at its edge. For a long time we sat in silence, in solitude, and peace filled your heart. The chill melted away, you turned to me, and fell into my embrace. Once again you knew me, my touch, my care. Yes, you returned to your first love and we became once again, one.

This is the beginning of the glory that lies before you. This is the beginning of great hope – a resurrected hope with promise of salvation and abundant life. You know there is no good thing that I would keep from you. As this awareness seeps deeply into your heart, you will begin to reciprocate; and I know there is no good thing you would keep from me. Everything about you is good, my precious one. I desire all from you, and to know you without secrets. I desire to sit with you, face to face, to look at your smile as you take my hand and say yes.

Come now. The cold wind has passed. The fires of your heart have been stoked and the morning dew is on the earth. Come barefoot with me and walk on this most holy ground. Come bare faced, without hiding. Bare yourself before me, for I have new garments for you. I cover you with beauty, with grace. I cover you with love and with hope that is undefiled.

My hope is the glimmer of joy in your face, the faint wink of your eye, your loveliness unveiled as you consider my invitation. Let it be so, my beloved. Come.
