It’s About Relationships
I’m thinking about relationships. People I have known. Some for many years, some for only a short while. I began thinking about them when someone I know retired this week and in her farewell message she reminded us that our work is “not a transaction. It’s a relationship.” It was beautifully described, and something we too often forget when we’re trying to get things done. We get all task-focused.
Added to that, in recent Facebook posts I’ve been reminded of people I have known and yet not heard from in some time. Then the week culminated with a virtual birthday party for a colleague I worked alongside and admired thirty years ago. I still greatly admire her, even though our lives don’t often connect.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that relationships are important. The people in our lives are in our lives for a reason. They matter. They contribute to who we’ve become and will contribute to who we will grow to be. They give us examples, ideas, and encouragement. I think it’s pretty spectacular that we’re not alone; we’re all connected. I appreciate that, and I appreciate you for reading this post and in that, being a part of my life. Thank you.
